How To: Instantly Be Notified When a Must-Have Steam Game Drops to a Price You Can Afford

Instantly Be Notified When a Must-Have Steam Game Drops to a Price You Can Afford

As an avid Steam user, I'm faced daily with high prices for all of the games I want to download and play. It's gotten to the point where I don't even bother going on Steam altogether because I might end up spending a bunch of money I don't have.

There's even times when I begrudgingly head over to /b/... and beg.

I'm not very proud of that, but sometimes it has to be done.

Well, technically it doesn't have to be done, but who wants to live in a world without video games? I kill aliens, steal cars, and and eat mushrooms to escape from a sometimes banal reality filled with deadlines, stress, and responsibility.

The great thing about Steam, though, is that they constantly mark down prices for their listed games. It seems like there's a new game marked down each day, so the chances of you snagging the game you want for something you can actually afford is likely.

If you have the time to check out the website daily, do it. I, on the other hand, do not have a lot of time due to those deadlines, stress, and responsibilities I mentioned earlier. Well, no fear—if you're also dealing with the aforementioned issues, try out SteamAlerts!

The free web service allows you to monitor all of your favorite games and notifies you whenever the price for that game drops. All you have to do is enter your email address, find the game, set a price of how much you're willing to pay for it, and you'll be notified whenever the price drops to or below your desired price.

You can also remove the game notifications from the top right of the website, in case you've already purchased the game or no longer want to buy it because you used a torrent (you sneaky bastard).

There's also something called Is There Any Deal, an alternative website that looks for sales, discounts, and promotions, but it covers several other online game stores including Steam, Amazon, Get Games, and many others.
